Gold Strike Poker Room To Close

Just saw on 2+2 that the poker room at Gold Strike Tunica will be closing in January. This is horrible news! They held the best tournaments; 3 big series each year. Now all we will have is the WSOPC at Harrah's (until they close! ugh!) and Horseshoe might run a smaller series in June like they did this year. It's a sad day for local players like me who can't travel for tournaments. Why is Tunica not the great poker destination that it used to be?? This is the 3rd poker room to close in Tunica and I will bet Harrah's will not be far behind Gold Strike in closing. I wouldn't be surprised at all, in fact I thought they would close before GS did. Sad news, y'all, very sad news! :(

  1. I noticed all the poker dealers at the Gold Strike were moving to the Horseshoe for some reason. I guess they smelled this coming. Agree it's bad news.

  2. How in the heck am I ever gonna get on Hendon Mob now, Mojo??? LOL UGH! Guess I have one shot in 2014 and that's in Jan at the wsopc. Geez. Maybe Horseshoe will step up with some tournaments to replace the GS ones. Guess we'll see...

  3. I asked them yesterday about closing. Floor guy Will said it's true. Supposed to close Jan. 14. I expect they will have a bunch of promotions because they are obligated to give away the jackpot money.

  4. Horseshoe is saying they are going to offer similar tournament series events as Gold Strike did...we'll see.

  5. I just found this blog and I really like it....and sad news about GS but according to some of the posts (and my experience) they ran a lot of regs off with a really bad attitude. And they were actually turning people away from the big monthly games back in Jan and Feb - just not prepared so its no mystery as to why they were losing money

  6. I have heard about the bad attitudes, as well. Honestly, I didn't like to play cash or daily tournaments there, but I did enjoy their series events. Those are what I will miss. :/

  8. its a shame GS is closing. I enjoyed playing there. Just for the record, there's no plans for Harrah's room to close, their upper level management thinks they will gain players when GS closes.

    1. Gain 8 players!!! Tunica is dead. Dealers all have attitudes at every location. I have seen female dealers at Horseshoe have complete vulgar conversations right on the table.

  9. That is sad, was planning on going to their monthly this weekend. There is a series at the Hollywood after the WSOPC after Harrah's.

  10. With online poker shutting down poker interest overall has gone down which affects the casino poker rooms business. That is why lots of poker rooms have shut down. It really sucks.

  12. I would love to stop by. But, I think it might have to wait until this summer. I did not know that Serlkay had ever expanded its size. I must say that a succesful family owned business in this day and age is a very refreshing sight! As well as this is a very refreshing site! lien
